However, many people prefer to purchase their gig tickets from other sources as the service charges that these distribution companies charge are often very high and can significantly push up the price of a ticket. However, for events which are guaranteed to sell out very quickly ordering gig tickets online is often the only way to secure a ticket.

 

Many people prefer to buy their gig tickets from box offices at the venue where the show is due to take place as this is an effective method to avoid the excessive service charges that companies such as Ticketmaster set for the online purchase of gig tickets.

 

More and more people are turning to online auction sites such as Ebay to buy gig tickets as many people with unwanted tickets or who are no longer able to attend a show they had tickets to will sell their tickets on using these sites. It is possible to get gig tickets for less than face value in online auctions, particularly if you wait until the date of the gig is close by, however this is risky as it is not always possible to secure gig tickets this way.

 

Many people will also buy their gig tickets from ticket touts outside of the venue on the night of the show, however this is often unadvisable as touts are often selling faked tickets.
